The former chief of the Morrisville Ambulance Squad is expected to spend four to 23 months on house arrest.

Brian Eckert, 42, of Falls Township, was sentenced Monday before Bucks County Judge Rea Boylan at the Justice Center in Doylestown Borough. He pleaded guilty for his role in thefts from the now-closed ambulance squad that served all of Morrisville Borough and a portion of Falls Township.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said Eckert was ordered to pay around $30,000 in restitution and complete 100 hours of community service.

Eckert and former treasurer and operations supervisor Ruth Roxy Rookstool, 59, of Morrisville, were involved with unauthorized payments from the squad between 2011 and 2018 that were used to cover personal debts and expenses. The two attempted to get health and dental insurance for Rookstool after she stopped working for the squad, authorities said.

Authorities have totaled the thefts and fraud from the emergency services organization at more than $132,000.

Rookstool was found guilty in August and is awaiting sentencing.

The Morrisville Ambulance Squad suffered financial issues for years and was replaced by contracted emergency medical response through New Jersey-based Capital Health System.
