A former Middletown police officer waived a child pornography charge from district court to the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.

Officer Brian Craig Reeves, 53, of Middletown’s Langhorne section, waived a single count of child pornography on Wednesday, while prosecutors withdrew a charge of criminal use of a communication facility against the veteran patrolman and K-9 officer.

In July, Reeves was charged after an investigation by Bucks County Detectives uncovered alleged images of children “engaged in sexually provocative positions.”

The investigation led to a search of Reeves’ home and vehicle.

Reeves was put on suspension from the police department without pay after his arrest. Police said his alleged actions did not represent the department.

Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla said Reeves is not longer employed by the police department and declined to release the details of the internal investigation.

Reeves is free on unsecured bail.
