Falls Township’s longtime Township manager is leaving.
Township Manager Peter Gray submitted a letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors recently after 12 years as the chief administrator.

The township manager, who started in Falls Township as the finance director 20 years ago, did not reply to a request for comment.
Sources said Gray’s resignation, which becomes official October 1, was not just surprising to the Supervisors but also the township staff. Multiple employees said they were unclear why he was leaving and it had not been communicated.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie released the following statement:
“Peter Gray has been an invaluable member of the Falls Township Administration for 20 years. First as Finance Director and, for the last 12 years as Township Manager, Mr. Gray has been an integral part of the success Falls Township has seen these past two decades. He has given his all to his Community and has decided it’s time to explore other ventures. The Board of Supervisors has the utmost respect for Mr. Gray and the work he has done, and wishes him nothing but success in whatever he chooses to do next.”

In a response to follow-up questions, Harvie said through a spokesperson that the Supervisors were “surprised by Mr. Gray’s decision to leave his position. However, the Board of Supervisors supports him and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”
The township solicitor plans to identify a consultant who will work as interim township manager and also lead the search for the permanent replacement.

Gray was slated to earn $146,618 in 2019, according to the township budget.
