Growing up, Ray Post put together model planes in his spare time.
On Tuesday, Post, a resident of Middletown’s Langhorne section, made a trip to Trenton Mercer Airport for the Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour and was able to see real-life examples of those planes he once put together.

One by one, World War II-era aircraft made their way across Lower Bucks County, over the Delaware River, and landed at the New Jersey airport for the Wings of Freedom Tour stop that lasts until Friday.
The gleaming B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator landed first and then the other planes touched down as Post and about four dozen others watched. The roar of the P-51 Mustang’s engines were heard as the iconic fighter zipped overhead.

The planes will be on display at the airport right across the Delaware River Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. until noon on Friday. The planes on display are the B-17, B-24, B-25, P-40, and P-51.

Post said he was a frequent traveler for 40 years in his job from which he just retired. The recent retirement gave him the time to see the vintage planes land.
