Crews were able to quickly knock down the flames, but not before one unit suffered heavy damage to its kitchen, Deputy Fire Marshal Jim Bampfield said.
The American Red Cross were assisting the resident displaced in the fire-damaged apartment and a mother and two kids who were unable to stay in their connected home due to smoke damage.
The cause of the blaze was that a burner on the stove was left on as an accident, Bampfield said.
