Ranger Finds Drugs, Handguns At Park

Two people were arrested last week following a June incident at a county park.

A Bucks County Ranger on patrol at Silver Lake Park on Bath Road was alerted by a visitor that there were narcotics possibly in use and the suspects were in a Toyota on the evening of June 13.

According to court papers, a ranger make contact with Shawn P. Daggett, 40, of Bristol, and Shaynne Lorynne Smith, 28, of Bristol. There appeared to signs of drug use and Smith turned over syringes from her purse.

Daggett and Smith were detained and the ranger ended up finding small blue bags with suspected heroin residue in Smith’s purse along with more syringes, authorities said.

In the Toyota’s glovebox, a loaded syringe and small bags with red ink stamps were located. Additional bags were found and one contained suspected cocaine residue, rangers said.

A 6mm handgun was found in the center console of the Toyota, rangers said.

Daggott was found to be on Bucks County parole and has a previous felony conviction for aggravated assault. Smith did not have a concealed carry permit, rangers said.

Tests of the suspected drugs came back recently and confirmed it was fentanyl, rangers said.

Daggett was arraigned before District Judge John Kelly on charges of possession of a firearm while prohibited, firearms not to be carried with a license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a blood alcohol level of .02 or greater while license suspended.

Smith was arraigned before District Judge John Kelly on charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Daggett was remanded to the county jail on 10 percent of $40,000 and Smith released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
