The weather is to blame for a two-alarm fire that damaged residences in Bristol Borough Thursday night.
Borough Fire Chief Herb Slack told LevittownNow.com that the blaze at The Villas at Riverview in 2200 block of Seabird Drive between the Delaware River and Radcliffe Street was caused by a lightning strike.

The residents of the home initially saw the flash from the strike and then checked their home for damage but did not see or smell anything.
A few minutes later at around 9:05 p.m., they smelled smoke and called 9-1-1, Slack said.
Firefighters arrived on scene and began to battle the flames. They eventually struck the second alarm.

Slack said crews opened up the home’s walls and ceiling to put down the fire.
There was significant damage to the loft area above the garage and roof structure, Slack said, adding there was smoke damage to three additional homes.
While fire crews were battling the blaze, heavy rain poured down.
