After roughly a year without a contract, the Neshaminy School District support staff union is aiming to go through the fact-finding process in hopes of coming to a new agreement.

The 510-member Neshaminy Education Support Professional Association (NESPA) and the school district will request a fact-finder be assigned at the July 16 Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board. If approved, the third-party fact-finder will hold a hearing and gather information from both parties before issuing a final report 40 days after the assignment date.

If both sides agree to the report, it will become the new contract. If one sides rejects the report, the document will be made public and a second vote will be held within 10 days.

The previous NESPA contract ran from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018.

NESPA is made up of classroom aides, buildings and grounds crews, technology staff, office workers, food service employees, and transportation staff.

The union and school district have been bargaining since January 2018 without striking a deal.
