Cobra Found At Apartment Complex Where 21 Venomous Serpents Removed In March

A 73-year-old Falls Township woman killed a cobra outside her apartment on Monday.

Kathy Kehoe told reporters that she killed the cobra with a shovel outside her ground-level unit at the Aspen Falls Apartments off Trenton Road in Falls Township.

“I opened the door. I said a bad word. ‘It’s a cobra.’ I knew right away,” said Kehoe told 6abc.com.

“He went this way. I stalked him and when he got over to here, I tapped his tail. He went up and that’s when I did the deed and held him there,” she added.

Kehoe relayed to NBC 10 that she was alerted to the cobra by blue jays outside squawking.

Police turned the snake over to state wildlife officials.

Lt. Nelson Witney said the matter remains under investigation.

LevittownNow.com broke the news in March that a resident at the same apartment complex was found to have 23 snakes and 21 of them appeared to be venomous. The snakes were removed by an expert and taken to licensed care centers. It was unclear if charges were filed related to that incident.

In March, officials had raised concerns the snakes could have escaped and caused a threat to residents in other apartments.
