Neshaminy High School matriculated 662 students for the Class of 2019 during their 124th annual convocation ceremonies at the Harry E. Franks “Heartbreak Ridge” Stadium.

A perfect evening greeted the gathered capacity crowds, with the traditional hanging flag from the emergency services trucks over the field entrance where the graduates entered.
In his opening remarks, Superintendent Joseph Jones had a simple message to the class: “Be Kind.” This same two-word message is resonating throughout the district, having been used at the Poquessing and Sandburg middle school ceremonies earlier this week.
Salutatorian Rachel Prizer’s message was about creativity and choice.

“We are the future so what will we create? … Seeing and perceiving everything in a more creative way keeps us from slipping into this mundane lifestyle … We have the ability to interpret the world; we can choose anger or sadness, or we can choose happiness.”
Class Advisor Cate Romano was proud of her students and all of their accomplishments. She reminded the graduates to jot down memories of their time at Neshaminy because, “the future moves quickly and the past will fade.”

Caroline Angerer presented the Valedictorian address, charging her classmates to work together.
“Take action when we see a problem. Instead of living in denial, let’s recognize the issue and decide to address it.”
She reminded the graduates they are the future, and it is up to them to mold it.

“In this time of conflict I urge you all to take action and sacrifice a shred of your ego in the name of compromise.”
Speaking for the Board of School Directors, Marty Sullivan encouraged the class to keep pushing forward.

“You have to take a first step on any journey, so always take that first step.”
Principal Ryan Staub thanked the class for introducing him to Neshaminy traditions, and encouraged the students to choose the direction of their lives, reminding them they “have the ability and drive to achieve all of your goals and continue setting new ones.”

The students were an excited bunch, with beach balls coming out almost as soon as they were seated, and graduation caps were adorned with pictures and statements.
In the end, when they were confirmed by Class President Joseph Nolen and Vice Principal Colin Trickel, these caps were lofted airborne to complete the celebration.
