A police chase from Trenton ended in Falls Township early Thursday morning.

Falls Township and Morrisville Borough officers were alerted around 1:25 a.m. that a silver 2011 Hyundai Genesis was being chased from Trenton and the driver had possibly been involved in armed robberies in the city.

The chase came across the Lower Trenton Bridge (Trenton Makes Bridge) and traveled through Morrisville Borough.

Falls police placed stop sticks on Bridge Street in front of the Fairless Hills Elks Lodge and caused the driver to lose control, narrowly avoiding an officer who jumped away, according to court papers.

The Hyundai did not have its headlights on and continued after hitting the stop sticks, police said.

The chase continued and the Hyundai drove around the new Wawa at West Trenton Avenue and Pine Grove Road. The recently-opened Wawa had customers in the parking lot and gas pumping area while the chase was underway, police said.

Continuing from the Wawa, the Hyundai traveled onto Plaza Boulevard and came to a stop outside of the Alexandria Apartments, police said.

In court papers, police said they made contact with driver Douglas Brockington III, 45, of Morrisville, and an officer detected a “very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage upon his breath.”

Brockington was charged with three counts of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and single counts of reckless endangerment and, DUI. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge William Benz and jailed on 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
