Crew Pours Wistar Road Bridge Deck

The bridge deck was poured on the Wistar Road bridge ahead of schedule.

While Bristol Township officials initially estimated that the work that began just after daybreak would be wrapped up by 7:30 p.m., the crews were wrapped up by 4 p.m. on Friday.

Bristol Township Manager Bill McCauley was spotted looking at the span that is expected to open by July 1.

Although the majority of the bridge deck appeared to be poured and drying, more work to complete the span still has to be completed.

Eastern Highway Specialists is being paid $1,285,000 to complete the bridge refurbishment. The township received $300,000 from the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Bucks to put toward the project.

The bridge was built in 1978 and has deteriorated in recent years. As holes began to form in the bridge decking, metal plates covered them over the past several years.
