A Falls Township man has been charged with discharging a firearm that struck a house with an infant child inside.
Edward J. Barry, 70, of the township’s Morrisville section, was charged last week with discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and reckless endangerment.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Shale Drive around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 28 for a report of an accidental firearm discharge.
Barry was outside when police arrived and relayed the following details to an officer: He was inside his home getting ready for church when he decided to bring his Glock 42 .380 pistol over concerns about violence at places of worship. While releasing the magazine, he accidentally pulled the trigger and fired a remaining bullet from the chamber. The bullet traveled out of his upstairs bedroom window, through the curtains and blinds, and out the window, according to court papers.
After the gunshot, Barry went outside and saw his neighbor’s home was damaged. He spoke with the resident, police said.

The resident of the home that had its front storm door glass damaged by the bullet told an officer he was feeding one of his infant children when heard glass break, police said.
The resident reportedly became “increasingly upset due to him and his infant” being just feet away from where the bullet entered his residence.

Police said the bullet went through the glass of the storm door and became lodged in the main front door.
Barry was arraigned and he was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
