Pennsbury School Board Candidate Creates Stir By Working As Poll Inspector

A Pennsbury School Board candidate was working as a majority poll inspector during Tuesday’s primary.

School board candidate Vanessa Fiori, a Republican from Lower Makefield, was working inside the voting area at the township’s North Three district at Afton Elementary School, multiple people told LevittownNow.com.

Concerns were raised that Fiori’s work in the polling area was inappropriate. While it is not uncommon for candidates to greet voters outside polling places, they are not allowed to campaign in the voting area.

David Fiori Jr., the judge of election for the polling district and her husband, confirmed his wife was working as the majority poll inspector. He said there was an oversight and it appeared to him that the rules did not allow her to work while on the ballot.

“I admit it wasn’t a good appearance,” the judge of election said midday Tuesday.

Bucks County elections officials, according to county spokesperson Larry King, warned Vanessa Fiori that her working the polls would be a conflict of interest, possibly even leading to her being disqualified if she won and it was challenged.

Fiori, who did not cross-file, was running against current Board President T.R. Kannan. Her campaign came into the spotlight recently when social media posts relating to prejudiced views against minority groups and political conspiracies were exposed online.

The issue was moot after results came in and showed she lost her challenge against Kannan.
