Fire Marshal Rich Dippolito said the man living in the home was cooking when he walked away. The pan of grease ignited and spread throughout the kitchen.
The man who was home at the time was taken to the hospital by the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad after receiving cuts to his hands. He had attempted to put out the flames with a garden house and cut his hands breaking windows, Dippolito said.
One cat died in the fire and four were saved. In addition, four dogs were also rescued alive, Dippolito said.
