A team from Comcast Cares headed over to Middletown this past Saturday to clean up Detective Christopher Jones Memorial Park.

Linda Lovato, the area manager for Saturday’s project, oversaw a group of volunteers from the Philadelphia-based company as they repaired the memorial to the parkโ€™s namesake and the recreational area at large. Lovato, who has been working with Comcast Cares for 6 years, said the project was a โ€œrevamping for the memorialโ€, with the area also being mulched and cleaned of litter.

Detective Christopher Jones has been the only Middletown officer to lose his life in the line of duty when he was struck by a drunk driver on January 29, 2009. When entering the park, visitors can pay their respects to the fallen officer by visiting a plaque with his name on it, which Comcast Cares took extra special care to keep in pristine shape against the elements and visitors.

Lovato had a group of about 25 volunteers when the cleanup started at 8 a.m.

Comcast volunteers also took to other locations in Lower Makefield, Middletown, Upper Makefield, and Warminster
