Levittown-area high schools were scored recently in U.S. News & World Report’s 2019 best high schools ranking.

This year’s rankings were done differently than in years past with a new methodology being used. The new methodology, which allowed for more than more schools to be included, looked at six measures, including graduation rate, performance of underrepresented groups of students, math and reading proficiency on state tests, seniors who took and earned a passing score on Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams, and number of advanced courses taken by students.

With the change in methodology, the magazine known for its annual high school ranking data went from grading 2,700 high schools last year to 17,245 in 2019.

“By evaluating more schools than ever before, the new edition expands that focus so all communities can see which schools in their area are successfully serving their students – including historically underserved populations,” said Anita Narayan, managing editor of education at U.S. News & World Report.
