Middletown has hired a Philadelphia company to pave 3.5 miles of township roads this summer.
The Board of Supervisors voted this week to award a contract to General Asphalt Paving for $1,057,318. General Asphalt Paving’s bid beat contractor James D. Morrissey’s submission by just under $30,000.

Middletown Director of Building and Zoning Pat Duffy said he initially expected the price to come in around $1.3 million.
As part of the project, Wheeler Way, Wheeler Court, Cabot Boulevard, Banks Road, Silverlake Road, Janney Terrace, Taylor Drive, Fife Terrace, Sunny Hill Road, Summit Trace Road, and East Woodland Avenue will be repaved. Penndel could join the project to repave their portion of East Woodland Avenue if they pay for it.
The township has previously used both General Asphalt Paving and James D. Morrissey on paving projects.
