Chris Kenner was playing catch with his son around 5:30 p.m. Friday when he spotted smoke coming from the house next door. He ran to the front door of his neighbor’s home in the 200 block of Willow Drive in Falls Township’s Levittown section and was smacked with a wall of smoke the second he opened the door.
Kenner told LevittownNow.com he then called 9-1-1 to report the house was ablaze.

Firefighters from multiple companies rushed to the home and hosed down the flames.
The fire caused significant damage throughout the residence, Levittown Fire Company No. 1 Chief Rich VanSchaick said.
The resident was not home at the time, and no injuries were reported, VanSchaick said.

The fire marshal’s office was investigating the cause, and PECO arrived to cut power to the fire-damaged home.
Nicole Kenner, Chris’ wife, said the longtime homeowner passed away recently and her son had been staying at the house part time. She believed he had left about 30 minutes before the fire broke out.
“I just feel bad for the son,” Nicole Kenner said. “This was his parent’s home.”
