As the local news website approaches its sixth anniversary this week, the Community Calendar has been expanded with more promotion on social media and a new Thursday email newsletter showcasing upcoming events.

One of the most noticeable changes is the addition of a small fee for events submitted by community groups and businesses. Community event and nonprofit listings will cost $8 and listings from area businesses will cost $15. In addition, packages for users who post numerous of events are being offered, and In The Know Club members will receive a 50 percent discount on all postings.

โ€œWeโ€™ve realized how important this calendar has become to the community, and weโ€™re investing in making it better,โ€ Publisher Tom Sofield said. โ€œThis small fee for the calendar will allow us to assign a staff member to curate the calendar, promote it, and also support our local news offerings.โ€
