As the local news website approaches its sixth anniversary this week, the Community Calendar has been expanded with more promotion on social media and a new Thursday email newsletter showcasing upcoming events.
One of the most noticeable changes is the addition of a small fee for events submitted by community groups and businesses. Community event and nonprofit listings will cost $8 and listings from area businesses will cost $15. In addition, packages for users who post numerous of events are being offered, and In The Know Club members will receive a 50 percent discount on all postings.
โWeโve realized how important this calendar has become to the community, and weโre investing in making it better,โ Publisher Tom Sofield said. โThis small fee for the calendar will allow us to assign a staff member to curate the calendar, promote it, and also support our local news offerings.โ
