Due to a resident concern, Middletown Township may soon install a stop sign at a dangerous cross street in the Maple Point neighborhood.
The Middletown Board of Supervisors have authorized the advertisement of an ordinance which, if approved, would install a stop sign at the intersection ofย Maple Point Drive and Croasdale Drive.

The resident’s concern was that vehicles turning from Croasdale Drive are not yielding to vehicles traveling on Maple Point Drive. Since Maple Point Drive ends shortly after the intersection, there has seemed to be some confusion among motorists who has the right of way. The concern was first raised during the January meeting of the Citizens Traffic Commission.
Input was been received from the commission, the police department, and the township’s traffic engineer, and all groups unanimously agreed that measures should be taken.
While an accident history doesn’t exist at the intersection, residents have reported many near-misses.

Supervisor Amy Strouse noted that when she saw the advertisement for the ordinance on the agenda, she drove to the area to have a look and was nearly hit by another vehicle turning from Croasdale Drive.
If approved, the signage and installation would all be done in house.
