Bucks County Summer Internship Program, Habitat For Humanity Receive State Funds

The state doled out funding to two Bucks County-based efforts this week.

Nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County and theย Bucks County Workforce Development Board have been awarded money to expand their efforts.

The $150,000 forย Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County will support the implementation of anย of an accessible housing program that will provide necessary accessibility modifications to the homes of 24 individuals in the county, Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said.

The funding was through the Pennsylvaniaย Department of Community and Economic Development’s Keystone Communities program that is set up to supportย community revitalization projects.

Theย $217,663 awarded to theย Bucks County Workforce Development Board will provide students and young adults with hands-on work experience throughย summer internship programs as they move toward college and the workforce, Wolf’s office said.

The internship program that theย Bucks County Workforce Development Board is implementing will take place across the state between May 6 and August 30 and offer a minimum wage ofย $10.35 an hour for young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 years.

In addition to theย Bucks County Workforce Development Board, 21 other workforce development boards across the state received funding for summer internships. More than 1,000 students and young adults will benefit this year from $4.4 million in state funding.
