Award-Winning Illustrator Visits Middle Schoolers

Middle schoolers in Bristol Township had a visit from an award-winning illustrator and author Jerry Craft.

Craft wowed the sixth-grade students at Neil A. Armstrong Middle School with a peak behind how he creates his characters and draws them. He focused on his latest book “New Kid.”

The artist told students about the basis for “New Kid” and his previous work “The Offenders,” explaining how the books are based on his own experience going from his neighborhood public school to a private school. “The Offenders,” in part, is based on the friends he had growing up and his experience managing two different groups of friends from his two schools.

The event at the middle school was co-hosted by Barnes and Noble in Falls Township.
