All three of Bucks County’s technical high schools were awarded grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Education this week, Gov. Tom Wolf’s Office said.
Bucks County Technical High School in Bristol Township will receive the grant maximum of $50,000, Middle Bucks Institute of Technology in Warwick will get $44,290, and the Upper Bucks County Technical School in Bedminster was granted $43,226 to put toward new equipment that will provide students with hands-on training for careers needed by local employers.

For the grant awards, each of the three public vocational technical education schools will have to either match the state money or get a local business to match the funds.
Bucks County Technical High School will match the grant with funds set aside in their budget.
“We have been very fortunate to receive these funds since keeping our school state-of-the-art can be costly when getting the newest equipment,” Bucks County Technical High School Administrative Director Drr Leon Poeske said.

“To prepare students for the 21st century jobs that are driving the Pennsylvania economy, schools need to offer students hands-on training on equipment that is consistent with industry standards,” Pennsylvania Department of Education Secretary Pedro Rivera said. “These grants, which require a local match, help institutions around the state train their students for the jobs that exist in their local community.”
Students from the Bensalem, Bristol Borough, Bristol Township, Morrisville, Neshaminy, and Pennsbury school districts attend the Bucks County Technical High School.
