The Bristol Township School District has hit a bump that has delayed a court hearing to sell several closed buildings to a developer.

Some updates to appraisals for the properties are being completed before the district can submit paperwork to the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in Doylestown to schedule a hearing for the sale of John Fitch Elementary School on Greenbrook Drive, Abraham Lincoln Elementary School on Plumtree Drive, and George Washington Elementary School on Crabtree Drive to McGrath Homes for $1.2 million, school board solicitor David Truelove said.

Last month, the district was aiming to have a mandated public hearing on the sale before the end of October, but Truelove said he now hopes to have that hearing next month.

McGarth’s planned purchase comes after more than a year of efforts to find buyers that the school board were the right fit for the properties.

Last month, the school board approved hiring Premium Excavating and Demolition of Falls Township to abate any toxic materials and take down the vacant Lafayette and Maple Shade elementary schools. Premium Excavating and Demolition will knock down Lafayette for $389,620 and Maple Shade for $206,595, according to school district Business Manager Josh Sweigard.
