Monday featured several announcements centering on Bristol Borough’s waterfront.
During the Council work session and agenda meeting, officials spoke on a number of topics for local residents, business owners and visitors alike to be aware of. The Mill Street Parking lot, where the annual doo-wop concert is held and where visitors and business owners commonly park, will be extra prone to flooding in the coming weeks. Bristol Borough Emergency Management Director, Merle Winslow, has been making it a priority to warn people parked in the lot.

According to Bristol Borough President Ralph DiGuiseppe II, the borough is working on a more permanent warning solution to keeping residents and businesses informed.
The Mill Street and Bristol Riverside Theater parking lots are commonly impacted by the flooding. Residents and visitors who use these lots should make use of tide charts and account for fluctuations in tide levels when using the parking lots, Winslow said.
The Council did not decide on anything concrete, but did mention possibilities including permanent signage in the parking lot.

The borough was nominated for and awarded the “Outstanding Project Award” from the States Organization for Boating Access (SOBA.) The organization will be visiting the borough to present the award, DiGuiseppe said.

“I think it’s a really prestigious award that we have won,” he said. “We should all be pretty honored and proud of it.”
Finally, the borough’s engineering firm, Gilmore and Associates, ran through several possible future improvements to the waterfront. Nothing is set in stone for these future developments, but conceptual plans include more efficient parking, an amphitheater by the water and supplemental docks for day visitors to the borough.
