Police Log: Animal Cruelty Under Investigation, Argument Over Cheating Leads To Assault & More

August 23

DUI

Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the 400 block of West Lincoln Highway. The 29-year-old motorcyclist was found to have usedย amphetamines earlier in the day and will be charged with DUI.

August 25

DUI

Officers on patrol found two large holes in the ground and a single tire track in the grass leading down Park Avenue from the intersection of Park and Bellevue avenues. Officers followed the trail and found a silverย Toyota sedan with a New Jersey license plate. A large chunk of concrete was found wedged under the front bumper and a 31-year-old man was found asleep behind he wheel and he smelled of alcohol. He was unable to perform a field sobriety test and provided the wrong name and dates of birth when at the hospital for a blood draw. He will be charged in relation to the crash.

August 27

DUI

Officers came upon a car stopped on Woodland Avenue near Bellevue Avenue and spotted a woman sleep in her car. They yelled to wake her up and called medics. The woman and her female passenger were both under the influence of PCP. She did admit to smoking “wet” and refused a blood draw test. She will be charged with DUI and is under investigation in Bensalem for leaving her 1-year-old child unattended.

September 1

Suspected Drugs

Officers spotted a vehicle coming south on Bellevue Avenue and making a right turn on red at an intersection where it is not allowed. During a traffic stop, the 23-year-old man behind the wheel admitted to smoking two pipes in the vehicle. One pipe contained a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The suspected marijuana was sent to the lab for testing.

September 4

While responding to a drug overdose at the Mill Creek Apartments, the 46-year-old man being treated was determined to have an active warrant from Allentown. He was found hiding in the bathroom and taken to the prison until Allentown authorities could pick him up.

September 6

Burglary

Following the Labor Day weekend, staff returned to Denny Electric on West Lincoln Highway to find large spools of copper wire had been stolen. Security cameras picked up the incident and the suspect and the vehicle used.

September 13

Burglary

Denny Electric on West Lincoln Highway was hit by another burglary. He gained access to the same door as in the previous burglary, which was secured this time by boards. The suspects used a discarded piece of wood to stop a ventilation fan also used to gain access. The total loss during the two burglaries was $15,000.

September 18

Assault

A 28-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend after she confronted him about cheating on her. Their argument at the gas station at the corner of Durham Road and Lincoln Highway led to the man assaulting her and breaking her cell phone. Security camera video backed up the story. He was arrested and charged.

September 19

Arrest

A 22-year-old man came to the police station and said he suspected he had a warrant and wanted to turn himself in. A search determined he was wanted and he was arrested.

Theft From Vehicles

Overnight, multiple vehicles along West Woodland Avenue were targeted by thieves. The majority of the vehicles were unlocked.

September 24

DUI

A 26-year-old man was arrested for DUI and an active warrant after he was stopped for speeding through the Our Lady of Grace School zone during a police traffic detail. Officers noticed Riggle had slurred speech, a dry mouth, and pinpoint pupils. He admitted to using heroin earlier in the day and had taken Suboxone.

October 2

Animal Cruelty

Officers were made aware of a dog locked in a cage on Park Avenue and found aย scared, black pit bull that was bleeding from the head and face. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital and transferred to a facility in Bensalem. Anyone with information has been asked to call police atย 215-757-5152. All calls are confidential.

October 4

Arrest

A 25-year-old woman was arrested at the Penndel District Courthouse on Centre Avenue after a Montgomery County probation officer and borough police were alerted she had an outstanding warrant. She was sent to the county prison until Montgomery County authorities responded.
