The iconic mansard-style roof and red and white color scheme of the McDonald’s restaurant on Route 13 will soon be gone.
Bristol Township Council recently approved a plan that would see the fast food eatery at the corner of Route 13 and Haines Road undergo a transformation that would square-off the building, improve parking, make the facility more accessible for those with disabilities, update the walkways, replace the windows, put on fresh paint, and upgrade bathrooms and doors.

Attorney Leslie Gerstein, who represented McDonald’s before Council, said plans to upgrade the interior of the eatery will also soon be submitted.
The McDonald’s upgrade is part of a nationwide program to freshen up older locations. Locally, the Fairless Hills and New Falls Road in Levittown locations have already undergone upgrades.
Over the past decade, McDonald’s has moved away from their iconic red mansard roof style, which dates back to the 1960s, in favor of more fresh designs.
