Inspired by North Dakota-raised Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Carson Wentz’s performance on the field and off-the-field philanthropic efforts, Jay’s Steak and Hoagie Joint owner Jay Green concocted the Wentzel Dip Sandwich.

The limited-time $11 sandwich for Eagles fans who want to celebrate Wentz and support local food banks will first be served this Sunday and continue to be sold on game days for the rest of the season. A portion of each sale will go toward the ERA Food Pantry in Levittown and the Bucks County Housing Group Food Pantry in Penndel.

The Wentzel features Jay’s Steak and Hoagie Joint’s beloved original pretzel roll, chopped chicken steak meat (for the Birds), crispy tots (North Dakota produced 2.7 billion pounds of potatoes last year), North Dakota-style fried cheese curds, and beef bison dip cream cheese spread directly on the pretzel roll.

“I was working behind the grill thinking of new menu items to help support our local food banks when it hit me,” Green said. “North Dakota is known for its hearty food, so I played around and created a sandwich that combines the best of Philadelphia and Wentz’s home.

Wentz, who has spoken positively about cheesesteaks in the past, has devoted his time and efforts to support his A01 Foundation. Most recently, he launched a food truck ministry called “Thy Kingdom Crumb,” which will provide community outreach and distribute food to those in need.

For years, Jay’s Steak and Hoagie Joint and its customers have given back to the Lower Bucks County community. Just this year, portions of the sales from Jay’s Steak and Hoagie Joint’s menu have gone toward purchasing 5,337 pounds of food for those in need. Since he started the business, that number has totaled around 50,000 pounds of food.
