A Bristol Township couple who lived in unsanitary conditions with more than two dozen cats and five birds was sentenced to probation Monday.
Ann Lynn Reddy, 58, and Warren Muffler, 48, pleaded guilty at the Bucks County Justice Center in Doylestown to a number of animal cruelty charges and sentenced to 36 months of probation. They were also banned from owning animals, according to Philly.com.

Management at the Stonebridge Run Apartment Complex on Bath Road alerted township police, animal control, and the Bucks County SPCA last fall to problems in Reddy and Muffler’s unit in the E building.
Authorities entered the couple’s apartment and were hit with the scent of cat urine and the large presence of house flies. Inside, they found trash mixed with feces and urine.
Five birds and 31 cats were found inside the unit, Bucks County SPCA Officer Nikki Thompson said last fall. Ten of the cats appeared pregnant and there were 10 kittens, police noted in court papers.

In court papers, it was noted last year that the animals appeared to show signs of living and unsanitary conditions and several were found to be suffering from severe illnesses.
