Stuffed Bear Promotion Shut Down Due To Lines

A chain store that charges customers for the experience of completing the product shut down its “pay your age” promotion Thursday.

Build-A-Bear Workshop announced that the promotion had been suspended due to crowds. According to LevittownNow.com readers and helicopter footage from Fox 29, long lines were outside the Oxford Valley Mall as customers waited to get to the store to take part in the promotion.

Middletown police said they were not aware of any problems at the Oxford Valley Mall Build-A-Bear.

“We cannot accept additional guests at our locations due to crowds and safety concerns. We have closed lines in our U.S. and Canada stores. We understand some Guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible, the Missouri-based company posted on Facebook.

The promotion allowed customers to pick out a plush bear for the cost of the child’s age, which would be a savings over the store’s regular prices.

“Too many parents/kids. Gladly [will] pay more to buy a bear later,” one parent wrote in an email to this news organization.

The company shut down the promotion around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
