A loss of positive water pressure late Thursday night caused the Bucks County Water Sewer Authority to issue a boil water advisory for some customers in Middletown.
The advisory is out of concern that the pressure loss caused during repairs on a main transmission line outside the TD Bank on Woodbourne Road between East Lincoln Highway and Maple Avenue (Route 213) in Middletown could leave water with microbial contamination, officials said.

Customers in the following areas are under the boil water advisory:
- East Lincoln Highway between I-95 and Oxford Valley Road
- Maple Avenue between Flowers Mill Road and East Lincoln Highway
- Woodbourne Road between East Lincoln Highway and Third Street
“Customers outside these areas may notice discolored water, however that is not an indication that they need to boil their water,” the notice states.
Tap water should be brought to a rolling boil and left there for one minute before sitting to cool. Once cooled, the water is safe to use for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation.

The risk officials are worried about are organisms that can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and headaches.
Once the water main repairs have been made, the Bucks County Water Sewer Authority will test the water to make sure it is clear of bacteria.

The Bucks County Water Sewer Authority has been working since late Thursday morning to repair the main break that caused water to pour from the ground and flood into the street.
Sesame Place remained closed due to the break while several other businesses reopened Friday, including the Oxford Valley Mall.
