PennDOT will begin setting a new traffic pattern along the northbound Route 1 in the constriction zone near Route 13.

Northbound Route 1 will remain reduced to one lane through Tuesday evening when the traffic pattern will shift to two through lanes on northbound Route 1. Under the new pattern, the exit on Route 32 in Morrisville Borough will remain open to traffic. Drivers heading from Route 13 in Falls Township onto northbound Route 1 at the interchange must continue onto the highway.

Drivers are warned to allow for extra time when driving through the work zone, PennDOT officials said.

The project that spans Falls Township, Lower Makefield, Middletown, and Morrisville is planned to improve safety along Route 1.

The $2.3 million project is being paid for through 100 percent federal funds. James D. Morrissey Inc. of Philadelphia is handling the project.

The work is expected to be completed this summer.
