Touch A Truck Event Shows Off Vehicles, Coast Guard Helicopter

Only in its second annual outing, the Falls Township Touch a Truck event had perfect weather for the interactive and family-friendly event.

Touch a Truck events have become popular in recent years and have been held locally, including in Middletown Township. Saturday’s event at Falls Township Community Park was the township’s second annual and a number of sponsors made sure that the attendees had a lot of trucks to touch and climb upon.

“It’s something that we want to turn into a yearly event.” said Brian Andrews, the director of parks and recreation in Falls Township.

A number of local fire companies were represented, in addition to Falls police vehicles, public works vehicles, Rob’s Towing, HML Container Services, and the Pennsbury School District.

A highlight of the event was when a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter landed at the park.

Last year, the event attracted between 800 and 900 people, Andrews said.

Bringing the event to Falls was the idea of Falls Township Supervisor Jeff Boraski. He had attended other events in the area and thought that Falls could use a similar event for its residents.

“I think it is good for kids to see the vehicles in their communities,” Boraski said. “All kids like climbing all over trucks, even big kids.”

Kyle McCauley, the owner of HML Container Services, was out with his crew and trucks. HML does work with the township and operates out of New Hope.

“It is always great to serve the community and give back the best we can,” he said.

The parks and recreation department had giveaways for the first 400 kids who arrived at Saturday’s event.
