State Rep. Frank Farry has been named the 2017 Humane Legislator of the Year by the Humane Society of the United States.
Farry, a Republican from Langhorne, was honored recently in Harrisburg by the Humane Society for being a “leading animal protection advocate in Pennsylvania.” His dog, Bulmers, was on hand to help him accept the award.

The state lawmaker and Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company chief was recognized for legislation to offer immunity from civil suits to humane society police officers and the Motor Vehicle Extreme Heat Protection Act.
“As an animal lover, I am honored and grateful to receive this recognition from the Humane Society of the United States, which does great work on behalf of all animals,” Farry said. “We have been successful in passing major animal welfare initiatives in Harrisburg the last few years, but there is more work to be done to ensure our animals are properly safeguarded from abuse and neglect.”
