Police ID Delaware County Man As Pedestrian Who Was Fatally Struck

The man who died after being struck by a vehicle along East Lincoln Highway was identified as a Delaware County resident.

Chad Bettinger, 30, of Wallingford, was killed after a vehicle struck him along eastbound East Lincoln Highway just before Oxford Valley Road Saturday at 8:12 p.m., police said in an early Sunday morning news release.

An investigation revealed the Bettinger was in the right-hand travel lane of East Lincoln Highway when he was struck, police said.

At the scene late Saturday night, Bettinger’s shoe laid in the right travel lane a few feet away from his body. Investigators stood nearby taking photographs and examining the crash site.

Police said the striking vehicle stopped at the scene.

East Lincoln Highway was closed between the Oxford Valley Mall and Oxford Valley Road until late Saturday night as authorities investigated the crash.
