Lower Bucks County police will be assisting with a DUI checkpoint on St. Patrick’s Day.
The Bucks County DUI Task Force checkpoint will take place from 10 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. along Route 611 in Warrington.

Officers Bensalem, Doylestown, Middletown, Newtown, Northampton, Richland, Warrington and Warwick townships will take part along with the Pennsylvania State Police.
Police will be stopping drivers in both directions on Route 611 and watching for signs they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“As you enjoy St. Patrick’s Day, be of good cheer,” District Attorney Matt Weintraub said. “Just don’t rely on ‘the luck of the Irish’ to get you home safely if you are celebrating and have had too much to drink. Be responsible, and please don’t drink and drive.”

Last year, a checkpoint on the same stretch of road led to nine DUI charges, three drug possession charges, three paraphernalia charges, and two underage drinking citations, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.
The Bucks County DUI Task Force is funded by a continuing federal safety grant administered through PennDOT.
