An official confirmed the shooting involved a Bristol Township police officer who fired on a man during the traffic stop.

The man who was shot was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in Philadelphia. His condition was not confirmed as of publication.

There was no word on if any officers were injured.

Larry King, a spokesman for the Bucks County District Attorney, said the office was handling the investigation.

Police from around Lower Bucks County descended on Edgely Road in Bristol Township Friday afternoon following a reported shooting.

Sources said an assist an officer and shots fired call came across police radio shortly before 1 p.m. The call came as police were stopping a purple vehicle with New York plates on Edgely Road.

At least one person was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital with significant injuries, sources said.

A backpack sat on the ground near the vehicle as investigators worked the scene.

Officers from around the area were in the area. Bucks County Detectives were called to assist with the investigation.

Edgely Road remained closed between Runway Road and Route 13 as of 2:30 p.m.
