The exact details on a “rumor” regarding student safety at a Middletown middle school were not clear, but authorities said there was no threat.

An email to parents was sent Tuesday morning from the administration at Maple Point Middle School. The email said the main office received a report of a “rumor affecting student safety.” The district and police conducted an investigation and concluded the rumor was unfounded, Principal Andy Sokol wrote.

The incident comes days after security scares and minor incidents at schools in Bristol and Falls townships.

Middletown police often have patrol officers visit the Neshaminy School District’s buildings.
