Bristol Borough Council voted Monday night to authorize their solicitor to draft a potential lease agreement between the borough and the developers of a proposed gourmet burger eatery.
The Monday night action was purely a vote to allow a potential lease to be drafted by William Salerno, the borough solicitor.

The plan for Burger Garage, the concept for the eatery looking to move into the Klean Kars by Kevin garage on Old Route 13 near Mill Street, has been for the restaurant to lease a portion of the neighboring property owned by the borough for an outdoor seating area.
Kevin Brannigan, whose father owns the building where the eatery is planned, was present at the meeting Monday evening.
Members of the Council were not outright against the developers looking lease property next to the garage from the borough but worried about the precedent leasing property to a business could set. The fear, Councilman Tony Devine explained, is that this lease might “open the floodgates” in terms of people looking to lease property from the borough.

“I’m contributing to my community by bringing something other than a detail shop in,” Brannigan said.
When council asked if the project would be worth pursuing without the outside seating, Brannigan indicated that the outside seating is a big draw for the planned Burger Garage.

“If you want to get started, you have the right to start the process in the garage without the lease,” Ralph DiGuiseppe II said to Brannigan, understanding that the process in coming to a lease agreement could take some time.
According to Brannigan, the proper paperwork and approval processes for the eatery are already underway.
Developers Brannigan and business partner Joe Weston Jr. originally planned for the eatery to be open by summer 2018. However, the opening will likely be pushed back, but the duo want to begin the process to move toward opening.
