
The Pennsylvania unemployment rate crept slightly higher in the final month of December 2017.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, the state unemployment rate was up one-tenth of a percentage point from November to 4.7 percent. The increase marks the first since May 2017.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate remained higher than the national rate of 4.1 percent for December, according to federal data.
The state civilian labor force was down 5,000 from November to December.
In 2017, the largest increase in the job market in Pennsylvania was in the education and health services fields, adding 25,600 positions.
