A man was arrested after he was allegedly intoxicated when he crashed in Bristol Borough Tuesday morning.

Police said 33-year-old Lee Earl Williams’ path of destruction involved striking another vehicle, taking down a utility pole in the 500 block of Pond Street and slamming into two front porches of homes not far away. The first porch was struck and the second one across the street was hit as Williams tried to drive away around 7:10 a.m.

Williams, a Luzerne County resident, was taken into custody and suspected of being intoxicated and carrying narcotics, police said.

A 30-year-old Bristol Township was the passenger in the SUV and was arrested on an outstanding Bucks County warrant, police said.

The Bucks County Rescue Squad responded to the scene, but Williams and the Bristol Township man declined treatment.

Williams was arraigned by District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. on charges of possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, reckless endangerment, DUI and related offenses. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $30,000 bail.

Pond Street in the area of the incident was closed until 2 p.m. as crews replaced the utility pole. Bristol Borough Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
