Bristol Township has been awarded a $265,000 grant to help construct a 3,500-square-foot splash park.
The grant was awarded last week by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and will be put toward construction of the splash park and parking area, filtration and re-circulation systems, handicap accessibility, educational signage, and other improvements.

Policeman’s Park was formerly the site of a community pool that has since been closed.
Bristol Township Council President Craig Bowen said the splash park was initially planned for Policeman’s Park in the Indian Creek section, but officials are now toying with the idea of constructing it at the soon-to-be expanded park next to the Municipal Complex off Bath Road.
No matter where the splash park is built, early plans laid out numerous water features, a paved trail, seating, and fencing around the new water play area once the roughly $700,000 project is completed. Ongoing costs are estimated at $7,500 for maintenance and $2,500 in water expenses.

“Congratulations are in order for Bristol Township for saving taxpayer money and landing this competitive grant,” State Rep. Tina Davis said. “We’re all looking forward to the completion of Policeman Park, and this grant certainly helps us get there.”
The grants have been administered through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program and are part of a $44 million investment for 266 projects across Pennsylvania to create new recreational opportunities, conserve natural resources, and help revitalize local communities.
