The Bristol Township School District was working Friday to fix an issue that caused Mill Creek Elementary School to have an “undesirable odor.”
Parents and sources in the school told LevittownNow.com the sewage-like smell impacted portions of the building. In a statement, the district said the smell hit a “small section of a hallway within the school.”

The smell, according to the district, was not present in the mornings but has recently appeared as school days have progressed.
“Comprehensive testing and trouble-shooting measures have been taken to address the situation over the past few weeks. Sewer lines are being jetted today and our facilities team has been working with the county health inspector, who visited the building yesterday but did not convey any concerns regarding student health and safety,” the district’s statement said.
Teachers in the area impacted by the stench have moved students to other areas of the building on an “as-needed basis.”

Additional testing will take place Saturday.
“While unpleasant, please know that the current situation is not unsafe. We are working to address it as expediently as possible,” the district’s statement said.

Multiple parents said Friday that they were concerned about the issue.
The district sent a letter home to parents regarding the matter.
