A 116-year-old tall ship sailed up the Delaware River from Philadelphia and docked in Bristol Borough early Friday afternoon.
Tall ship Gazela Primeiro docked in the borough for Saturday’s Historic Bristol Day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and has plenty of events for everyone to enjoy.

Gazela Primeiro, which calls Philadelphia home, served a career as a commercial fishing in the waters off the United States and Canada before being purchased by the Philadelphia Maritime Museum in 1971. The ship, which was transferred to theย Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild in 1990, currently serves as a goodwill ambassador for Philadelphia and has sailed to other cities.
In 1992, the ship traveled to Bristol to mark the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbusโ voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.
The Gazela Primeiro has served as a set piece in numerous films, including the 1994 hit “Interview with the Vampire.”
