The middle-aged man who was rescued from 40-feet above his Middletown property has passed away, police confirmed.
The man was working in the tree when a friend noticed he was having a medical issue and contacted 9-1-1. Police, fire and medics rushed to the home at the corner of Old Lincoln Highway and Highland Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

Firefighters used the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company’s ladder truck to access the man and remove him from safety harnesses that entangled him, Parkland Fire Company Chief Bob Barnes said.
After removing the man, they lowered the ladder to the ground and the man was placed in the rear of the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad ambulance before he was taken to St. Mary Medical Center.

Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla said the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Barnes said the technical rescue required firefighters to pluck the man from the tree and take him to the ground.
An officer is investigating the incident, but Bartorilla said it appears to be related to a medical issue.
The Penndel and Langhorne-Middletown fire companies assisted Parkland crews at the scene. The Middletown Fire Marshal’s Office also responded.
