
A Bensalem man was arrested after allegedly attempting to elude officers during a car chase.
Christopher E. Strassler, 38, was arrested at about noon last Friday after Falls Township officers responded to assist in a police chase coming over the Route 1 bridge from New Jersey.

Falls officers responding to the scene were on New Falls Road near the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church when Strassler, who was driving a black Honda, came barreling towards. A quick evasive action by avoided a collision, but the subject was able to speed away from officers, according to court papers.
By the time the officers turned around, they had seen the Honda turning onto Rue Court, a dead end road, police said.
Falls police assisted the New Jersey State Police trooper with the detainment and arrest of Strassler.

Court papers stated that police noticed a smell of marijuana on Strassler and believed him to incapable of operating a car safely.
Strassler reportedly refused to consent to blood tests twice in the presence of officers and witnesses.

The court papers say that Strassler was seen by New Jersey troopers failing to maintain his lane and dipping into sleep while driving. When the trooper tried to initiate a stop, Strassler fled through Route 29 in New Jersey, over the Route 1 bridge, down New Falls Road and onto Rue Court.
Strassler was charged with a felony of evading law enforcement, a misdemeanor of driving under the influence and a number of traffic summary charges.ย Strassler was arraigned and bail was set at 10 percent of $75,000.
