A day of “bickering” between a married couple ended with the wife clinging to life and her husband behind bars.
Robin Ryan, 31, of Warminster, remained in critical condition at St. Mary Medical Center as of early Tuesday morning after she was thrown from her husband’s landscaping truck along busy Lincoln Highway in Falls Township Monday around 5:35 p.m.

Ryan’s husband, Andrew, 31, of Warminster, drove off after his wife hit the ground and he was stopped by Pennsylvania State Police along Trenton Road in the area of Elmwood Road in Fairless Hills a few minutes later. Falls officers on the scene formed the opinion that Andrew Ryan was intoxicated after he failed a field sobriety test, according to court papers.
Witnesses told investigators that Andrew Ryan’s silver Ford pickup truck swerved across Lincoln Highway and was speeding leading up to Robin Ryan being thrown from the vehicle. One witness said the landscaping trailer attached to the pickup truck struck the injured woman.
Police said a witness rendered aid to Robin Ryan before the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad arrived and rushed her to St. Mary Medical Center for immediate treatment.

The injured woman suffered abrasions to her arms and legs, an “obvious” leg fracture and a serious wound to the back of her head. An officer who arrived at the scene about a mile from the police station noted that Robin Ryan was “bleeding profusely from the wound to her skull and her breathing was shallow.”
A doctor at St. Mary Medical Center told a Falls detective and a Bucks County District Attorney’s Office detective that Robin Ryan was suffering from a laceration to her skull and brain swelling, court papers stated.

During a Monday night interview with police, Andrew Ryan said he had four beers and two shots of tequila at a bar with his wife, whom he had been “bickering” all day about finances. Once in the pickup truck, their argument became worse and he let Robin Ryan out before she returned to the vehicle but did not fully latch the door. Ryan admitted to detectives he was aware the door was not fully closed and swerved to the side to let his wife out of the pickup again despite her not actually asking him pull over a second time. Soon after, she fell from the vehicle and he drove off, acknowledging he was “drunk.”
At the scene outside the Oxford Point Shopping Center in Fairless Hills, debris from the pickup truck and some of Robin Ryan’s belongings were on the side of the road. A piece of what appeared to be the truck’s center console sat near a black bag.

Falls police Lt. Hank Ward said several witnesses followed Andrew Ryan’s landscaping truck and phoned in the location to 9-1-1 until a trooper caught up to it.
The Ryans have been married since August 2015 and Robin Ryan has family in Levittown, according to the couple’s marriage license.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call Detective Steve Reeves at 215-949-9100.
