A retired Middletown police officer has been appointed to the Neshaminy School Board.
Bob Burnett, a resident of Middletown’s Levittown section, was appointed Thursday evening after the school board interviewed Levittown resident Adam Kovitz and received interest from former school board member John Allen.

Burnett, a Republican, works as a security officer at a middle school outside Neshaminy. His daughter is a current special education teacher at Maple Point Middle School, which could be a conflict that would force him to abstain from certain votes.
Burnett fills the seat left vacant earlier this month when school board member Robert Sanna passed away from brain cancer.
Burnett will serve on the school board until the reorganization meeting on the first Monday in December, School Board President Scott Congdon said earlier this month.

Sanna’s seat will be open for election this November. The winning candidate will serve for the next two years remaining on Sanna’s term.
