The first and second floors were destroyed by fire and the basement suffered severe water damage, said Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito.
The resident who was home at the time was alerted to the fire by smoke alarms and was able flee unhurt, the fire marshal said.

Dippolito said the fire may have started near the back of the home, but the cause and origin location remained under investigation.
